Anna had always thought of Nick as an attractive man but until that night she had never had any dirty fantasies about him. Nick and Anna start to play sexy games with each other by performing stripteases in front of their bedroom windows knowing that they each are getting a good look at each other's naughty bits. Will their loved ones wind up being accepting of their relationship?

Here are my overall ratings on the book: View all 19 comments. Dec 03, Sophia Triad rated it liked it Shelves: Anna and Nick are destined to have a complicated relationship: They have 15 years age difference 2. Nick is a single dad of two adorable children— newly widower 3. Anna used to babysit their children when they were going out, so the children know her as a nanny 4. Everyone knows about Nick's anaconda This is a really interesting combination of things. Lots of goofy moments and mix-ups while they are trying to hide their relationship.

Many hot moments until Anna finally faces anaconda. I would have liked it more, if the book stopped in the funny side of things and everyone was laughing and were silly. Unfortunately there was a boat trip with all the characters taking part which came across as more angsty and stressful than funny.

And there was also a rape attempt that I think it was just too much for a romance-comedy book. I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review View all 12 comments. This is a first for me, others I've read by this author I have LOVED but this one just wasn't for me, I just couldn't connect with the story, or the characters and found myself skimming parts and squirming in others where it just came across to unrealistic which made for uncomfortable reading, keep in mind this is just my opinion others have really enjoyed this.

Oct 22, Sabrina rated it really liked it Shelves: I loved that forbidden part of the story thrown in and it took this book from just a hot story to something better with those stolen moments between Anna and Nick when no one was watching. So let's talk about the snake in the room for a second This could have easily gotten ridiculous with the "oh no his penis is just so large" thing but it actually never did. There were times it made me chuckle and times that it had me wanting some photo evidence of just how real it was unashamed perv here.

I really liked how it was all handled, no pun intended, and that the author still managed to keep it classy and not over the top. And through all of the cock rumors Anna and Nick still had an amazing chemistry between them and I really liked getting to see them together. I felt like they just worked together very well and as a couple I adored both of them.

I was rooting for their relationship from the beginning while also peaking out my window wondering when my hot and hung neighbor was going to move in. Bottom line, don't be afraid of the dick and read this book! ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review. Dec 13, Natalie The Biblioholic rated it really liked it Shelves: That anaconda was what drew me to the story but what developed between the characters is what kept me engrossed in this book. Anna has heard ALL of the rumors. Her next-door neighbor Nick is packing more than salami in his pants.

Then Anna witnesses it for herself when she spies him out of her window. What happens when her interest in him is finally reciprocated? Anna was awkward as all get out and Nick was self-confidence personified and somehow they worked. December 13, Genre: Dual - 1st person Heat: Standalone - Book 1 of the Awkward Love series I found the whole penis size and having to get stitches a bit silly.

Also, the plot felt underdeveloped especially the whole stalker thing that just came out of left field. There were just a lot of little annoyances overall that added up to making this one just an OK read for me. That said, I did love both the main characters.

So it wasn't all bad. Just not this author's best work IMO. Still, I am on board and looking forward to seeing what this author has up her sleeve with the next book in this series. This one gets a thumbs up from yours truly. View all 6 comments.

It's Complicated

Every once in a while we all crave that no apology, laugh out loud, cringe worthy story and It's Complicated gave you enough of that forbidden aspect to leave you wanting a bit more. I was practically salivating at the unique ways they were going to hook up!! Being a widower and raising two young kids is not the easiest thing in the world.

Getting back out on the dating scene however, is full blown torture Every once in a while we all crave that no apology, laugh out loud, cringe worthy story and It's Complicated gave you enough of that forbidden aspect to leave you wanting a bit more. Getting back out on the dating scene however, is full blown torture and for someone like Nick Jenson, getting a full body exam is better than that.

That is until he realizes he has a little admirer and she wants a taste. After eavesdropping on a very important and cringe worthy conversation regarding her neighbor, Anna makes it a point to see if the rumors about her dad's sexy best friend is true. What better way to find out than to turn into a peeping tom and get the full view herself? Unfortunately for her, it is and so the cat and mouse games begin. Wanting something you KNOW you can't have, never looked so good.

This story was silly and humorous in every sense of the word but I enjoyed it for the most part. I giggled inappropriately , snorted at the most outrageous things and cringed my ass off with certain scenes. I now flinch when I hear paper being ripped so thanks for that one!

She nods, her expression serious and determined. We sit on my bed in the darkness, staring at each other, waiting for his light to click on. The look on her face is priceless. Kayla stares at me in anticipation. Kayla has moved off the bed and is going through my dresser. She glances at me and rolls her eyes. She shakes her head and examines an old movie stub that I had stashed in a drawer. I walk over and snatch it from her. That was when I was five. I turn back to Kayla, who is grinning at me like an idiot.

I laugh as I fall on a heap on the floor. I creep over to the window, Kayla hot on my ass. She strains her neck to look through the window and squeals. Nick enters his room, unbuttoning his shirt as he walks. He shrugs it off, placing it neatly over the end of his bed. I swear I can hear Kayla salivating at the sight of his smooth, tanned chest. Hell, who am I kidding? She raises her eyebrows at me. I hold my breath and watch as he slides it free from his lean waist. Fuck me with a stick! How could any woman handle that? Cancer, or a big fat cock? I turn around and sit back down in shock.

She did not just say that. She grabs my arm, pulling it hard. At many times in the book such as when she was making a decision to go pro or stay at college she asks her god. She stays up at night and prays to him to help her with a sign or something. She also demonstrates how she shaped her own path.

She was born into a family that did not practice religious beliefs but she paved her own path with god. Missy is one of the best athletes in the world and these values help her achieve that high level of status. One thing that was not amazing about the book was how long it was. Even though she was trying to exaggerate things it felt like I was reliving her entire life minute by minute. When she talks about her decision about which high school to go to she walks us through every detail of every school and every single thought about.

Even though this might be interesting to some people it is very unnecessary to ad. As a swimmer myself I am able to relate to this book which makes it more enjoyable to read and easier to understand.

I clearly remember watching Missy swim in the London Olympics. I was a freshman in high school. I was the fan who yelled, "Go! I remember watching her win race after race, breaking World Records as she went. This book allowed me to understand the thought process an athlete at her caliber went through. As a sophomore in college now, I wish I would have been able to read this book during my high school swimming career. As a former swimmer, I was able to enjoy her stories of growing up in the swimming community.

I remember the summer-league teams, club swim meets, and high school. I easily was able to relate to Missy through her enjoyment. Overall this book was fantastic and I am so proud of the athlete Missy is becoming. It is both inspiring and heartbreaking, but isn't that life?

Jul 09, Terri Biley rated it really liked it. I am not an avid sports watcher but I liked watching Missy in London. I appreciate her openness about her faith. Was surprised to read she came into this faith of her own choice as opposed to being raised with that background.

I bought the book because I think Missy is a much-needed positive role model in this crazy world and I wanted to read more about her.

She definitely had a supportive family and circumstances. But she came to her faith on her own. I hope she has more stories to tell including Olympic ones. Feb 08, vara hattiangadi rated it it was amazing. Jun 28, Ashley rated it really liked it Shelves: This is such a fantastic insight into the life of such a great athlete and role model. I love how Missy explains all of the heartbreak, grit, and hardship it took to get to where she is today.

A lot of the times the media portrays this happy picture that is an unrealistic portrayal of how these athletes really get to compete at such a high level. You really gain an understanding of the lengths she went to to become such a driven swimmer. Missy is such an inspiring person and I loved reading abou This is such a fantastic insight into the life of such a great athlete and role model. Missy is such an inspiring person and I loved reading about her journey. Aug 13, Sarah rated it did not like it Shelves: Yes, she won metals in the Olympics and is a really great swimmer, but I feel like there was very little hardship and much going for her to do so.

The writing voice was not good and there was a lot of repeated things said. Nov 20, Ted Hinkle rated it really liked it. I rate "Relentless Spirit" a solid 4. Missy and her Mother and Father wrote a refreshing, informative, and enlightening auto bio of a modern day athlete. Missy depicted her struggles and triumphs, while being grounded in faith. I would definitely recommend Relentless Spirit to all " swim families". A co-worker at Barnes and Noble has a swimming background, is from Colorado, and spoke highly of the Franklin family.

Feb 21, Jean rated it really liked it Shelves: Do you love books about athletes? This book is for you. Do you love stories about family? Do you love to read others testimonies about their faith? In the beginning the tone is a little too bubbly but I suspect that's just who Missy is. By the end the tone is mature and grounded. It's actually an accurate depiction of her career through language. Dec 28, Victoria rated it really liked it Shelves: What is really great about this book is that it shows the closeness of relationships that Missy Franklin has with her parents.

She loves them so much and is supported so well by them that she had them write their takes on things throughout the book. You get their perspectives, and it is really sweet and encouraging.

Relentless Spirit: The Unconventional Raising of a Champion by Missy Franklin

I loved learning how her parents met and the story of how she came to be, which I had no idea about until listening to this book! Jun 17, Melissa rated it really liked it Shelves: As a mother of two swimmers and the wife of a swim coach, I have always been in awe of the dedication and drive it takes these athletes to be good at their sport. While some might find the writing in Missy Franklin's story a bit juvenile she is young, it should be , I enjoyed reading about the decisions that she and her parents have made in her life to help her achieve her goals.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves swimming and wants to know a bit more about her. Jun 01, Lori rated it liked it. I enjoyed this memoir. The writing style was quite informal, as to be expected. I was a little uncomfortable with the long section having to do with her conception, and almost gave up at that point, but I am glad I continued to read. Quite a bit of swim lingo that I would have had a lot of problems with before my kids started swimming.

I liked how the chapter would first be seen in Bonnie's eyes, with her speaking and then go to Missy and have her opinion of the story.
